Guiron plush featured in TOKUSATSU 2 Art Show at Q Pop

Image
Do something good for once in your life and head over to Q Pop before November 30th to check out the TOKUSATSU 2 art show. You won't be disappointed with what you see there. How do I know this? Because I was at the opening last night and saw the art with my very own eyes. It is all magnificent. But don't just take my word for it! Look at the Guiron plush I made especial for the show. Then go see it and the rest of the art for yourself in person!

Halloween Costume Adventure

Image
Halloween. Can you dig it? I surely can. Eating candy! Watching horror movies! Playing dress up! All of these things are good. However, most years my Halloween costumes are so bad I could blush. Why does this happen? One reason is my extreme aversion to buying articles of clothing that I'll have no use for beyond Halloween. I'm too darned practical. The other reason is my remarkable inability to think of costume ideas. I'm a creative man, but when I sit myself down to brainstorm costumes I almost always come up with zilch. So this year I asked the roommate to throw some ideas at me and against all odds, he suggested Mr. Rogers. "That is who I'll be!" thought me. Yet the next day I couldn't get the notion of dressing up as Charles Bronson out of my head. Oh, have I mention my all abiding love for Charles Bronson and the intense longing I have to dress up as him for Halloween (or all the time)? Well, I mentioned it to my roommate, but told him I couldn'

You knew this day would come, didn't you? The day when I would post pictures of the art show that I had pieces in just the night before... Well, the day you knew would come is come and the pictures you knew I'd post have posted. Look at them!! Oh, before I forget! If you didn't make it to the FUWA FUWA opening reception at Q Pop -- don't fret! The show will be up until July 28th. Go there to look at and buy some art!

Plush x 3 = ?

Looky here! I made three actual pieces of plush for the FUWA FUWA Soft Sculpture Show (which opened last night at Q Pop). And now I am posting the pictures of those actually made pieces of plush onto this blog. What a world! Hug Monster Myrna Bracket

Some days are lived. Others are plushed.

It is known that the human body can only take so much sewing in any given day. After several hours worth things start to get pretty weird. Fingers invariably get poked. Thoughts are thought. Decisions questioned. Inner truths truthed. But you know how it is when you have to plush a bunch for an upcoming art show. This particular show is called FUWA FUWA! And I'm not gonna kid you here, it's kind of a big deal for me. The show's a celebration of all things soft. Soft sculpture in particular, which just happens to be what I do. I am one of only a dozen or so featured artists as opposed to several dozen like most of the group shows I've participated in. If you've never been to one of my shows before this is the one to go to. The opening reception happens at Q Pop on Saturday, July 13th from 7pm-10pm. My plush and I would love to see you there. And speaking of plush... (First rate segue!) I made three pieces for this show. You may have seen Hug Monster already in

Tres Power Men in POST MEAL FOOD - Part 1

Part 1 of the epic mystery saga devoted to The Pusherman's propensity for buying meal after meal back-to-back. Why does this happen? Read here to (eventually) find out!

You have no idea what procrastination even looks like

Image
It took me nearly two years to finish plushing this Hug Monster plush. You read that correctly (that is assuming you can actually read). This plush creature sat half-sewn in a box or a drawer or maybe a shelf for the better part of the past two years. It was only moments ago that the final stitch was sewn and the face glued on. Why did it take me so long to complete? Is it a super tricky one to plush? Did I run out of thread or something?? I don't know!! And you really shouldn't let me ask myself questions that I don't have the answers for. It's just rude.
