Budget Art Toys!

Image
I just posted pictures of the two vintage Oak Acorn gumball machines that I recently acquired to vend my wooden art toys out of. I only needed one machine but got the second as a back-up to swap parts between the two. However, instead of doing that, I decided to make a new line of Budget Art Toys to fill the jankier machine with. Most of these will be simple little guys without hats or ears or anything, but you can see some of the other "special" guys pictured here as well. Making these toys has been a creative shot in the arm. They're honestly closer to how my Capsule Castaways toy line started out. Fun colors and simple shapes! It's pretty radical.

Brand new wooden art toys for folks on a budget!

In my quest to put together the perfect art toy capsule vending machine, I actually acquired two vintage machines. I was hoping to swap parts between them but soon realized I could just use both to vend toys. This here machine is actually the first one that I ordered, and it's clearly a bit more rundown than the other one I ordered so I decided to make a whole new line of simpler toys to fill it with. Most of what's in this thing will be very generic little guys, but I'm making other little shape-y buddies and special guys as well to sweeten the deal! I'm not gonna have both machines at every event I table at but keep your eyes peeled for this machine if you bump into me at future events.

CHORE GOBLIN ISN'T HERE reprint

My initial printing of CHORE GOBLIN ISN'T HERE was done in a hurry. I got to the end of drawing the comic and didn't have time to design a proper cover. But I've finally done just that and I'm happy with how it turned out! Here's a pic of the interior "NO PEEKING" band plus the back cover text. This updated version will debut at Heavy Manners Comics Fair on Saturday, October 17th. It's an awesome two-day event with different artists both days. If you like comics and art, do yourself a favor and check it out, okay?

Capsule Castaways new and improved capsule vending machine + bonus art toy pics!

Look at the beautiful vintage gumball machine I got to vend my Capsule Castaways art toys out of! This is a serious upgrade from the previous capsule vending machine I've been using. My old machine was solid, but way too big for my liking. Its plastic globe could hold somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 capsules and I've managed to get my "stock" of tiny toys up to 100 but it doesn't even look half full!! This replacement gumball machine is an old Oak Acorn gumball machine with a square glass globe that wasn't designed to hold hundreds of plastic capsules, making it perfect for my purposes. I'm pretty stoked about this whole thing. It's basically my dream capsule vending machine! I made some fun new toys to celebrate. Take a look :->
